IMG_2813IMG_2815IMG_2814I’m trying to build a B&O/C&O train. The newer Lionchief GP7 will be heading it. One of the cars I ended up with is Lionel 6-17403 with covers. I want to run it without the covers because it looks to tall behind the GP-7. I’m trying to figure out any load that will fit into it properly. So far I found a Lionel coil kit that fits 42’ gondolas and other cars. I have no idea what the prototype length is.  The kit doesn’t give actual dimensions. I have no clue where to look it up at. Thanx in advance for any suggestions or info.

@obxtrainman;  gondolas are the mainstay of a metal recycling facility. The yard I worked for shipped out cut-up steel plate, rebar pieces reclaimed from interstate rebuilds and lots of MST (machine shop turnings). I plan on using steel wool to simulate MST's in my scrapyard scene. (It's in my mind - at this point, lol)  Rich.IMG_0323

You can use a ruler to measure your car.  O scale is 1/4 inch = 1 foot.
