Well, you can’t say Lionel didn’t try to get some production out of China. Hopefully this shows all the lunkhead “experts” that just saying “move production back to the US” is WAY easier than to actually doing it. I suspect, this little experiment also cost Lionel a bunch of coin.

I have a few of the milk cars (original cars) and they are spectacular. I hope the new tooling is close to the original. If not, the price of the original cars will surly remain high. Also, these cars are very desirable to the two-rail crowd as they are often found selling at the O scale shows for conversion to 2-rail.

One last thing, Dave did point out the “hidden tab” trucks for this run. Not sure if this is new or Lionel has been bringing this feature back, maybe someone can confirm who knows.

I think Dave mentioned this awhile back when it was asked they would have the hidden tab.   These trucks/couplers on these milk cars are by far the best Lionel has ever produced.   I haven't converted any of my milk cars to Kadee as these couplers are bullet proof.

Thanks Gary, I was not aware that the hidden coupler trucks were making a comeback. That is good news to hear.

So these will have the original style trucks? Or some type of plastic redesign for 2rail like the new freight car trucks with the thumb tack?

Those milk and freight car trucks from a few years back with the hidden uncoupler tab were the best trucks Lionel ever produced.

They're here!  They're here!  After a multi-year delay, the new Lionel scale Milk Reefers are here!  See below for pictures of the METCA Exclusive Long Island LIRR and Pennsylvania PRR versions.  Also included is a picture of what 400 milk reefers look like sitting in a garage.

Stu,

When these cars are shipped, I'm guessing USPS, will we receive an email with a tracking number, concerned because of how things are right now with USPS. I have a package (not METCA) missing in action since December 7.

Yes, probably USPS.  Yes, since we use stamps.com to prepare our labels, an automated email with tracking info is sent if we have your email address.  Agreed regarding the USPS log jam.  For just that reason, we'll probably give it a few weeks to clear out the system before we ship.

Sorry but I am still a flip phone carrying Neanderthal. However after years of belittlement from my wife & sons, my New Year's resolution is to accept the Twenty First century and get an iPhone. As you probably have already guessed, I run my trains in conventional mode.

Forgive my stupidity but are they in????   Arthur your the only one to date who's gotten them.  Just looking for confirmation.

Yes Gary, in my hands, picked-up from Nassau Hobbies yesterday (live on Long Island, Nassau County). They also have the Long Island Railroad Milk Car that was produced for the Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers club, Nassau Hobbies handles the shipping for them. In your previous post you said you ordered from Nassau Hobbies so you should be hearing.

Great news.  Yeah, haven't heard a thing so I sent them a email.  Pics and video to come.

What a difference four years makes.  I just got a credit card hit from Ro.  The B&O milk car I ordered in 2017 is 57.95. The Frisco milk car I ordered in 2020 is 71.95.  Moo

Thanks for the heads-up, Grampstrains.  I saw you ordered from sponsor Charles Ro, as did I.  I just called them; the milk cars are in house.  I had ordered the B&O and am super excited about my first milk car and the B&O livery.  They'll be mailing it out in a few day, so we'll see how long the P.O. takes.  I'm patient (obviously :-).

Wait, hold on, am I misreading the recent posts???? The milk cars are in? The recent offerings, the ones from 2016-17? or both?

>> Hi Mike,

>> My order at Charles Ro was from the 2016 V2 catalog, and yes, they have it in stock now.

And, while I got the earlier preorder price, my state's sales tax and the shipping brought the price up to what's current.  :-)  No complaints, 'though.
