I have known about this company for awhile. They make die-cast vehicles in many scales, but have a wonderful selection in 1/64 scale. I sure have enough of them and they look great.

New for them, as I get their email announcements is that they are making 1/64 figures. Marketed in the Muscle car line, you can populate you layout with 1970s casually dressed car-nuts. Never saw the figures in real life yet, but they look interesting. Just click on the highlighted word "interesting."

Thanks for the website link.  I bought one of their '67 Mustangs on eBay a couple years ago, and was impressed by the car's detail and accuracy in 1/64 for the price.  The hood even lifts to reveal a blue V-8.  I see by their website that Hobby Lobby carries the cars,  Since a Hobby Lobby recently opened up close by, I'm going to check them out.

As near as I can tell without seeing more detail, that's a '67 Mustang Coupe. There were several distinctive differences between the '67 and '68, but they are not so easy to see in the picture. Most obvious is the small, finned "scoops" in front of the rear wheels. These were changed to a single, bright trim line for '68. Like all cars starting in '68, the Mustang gained side marker lamps on all 4 corners. If they exist on this model, they are hard to see. Also impossible to distinguish, the word "MUSTANG" behind the from wheel was block letters in '67 and stylish script in '68. (The GT had a simple "GT" emblem.) Visually, the only other spotting difference is the horizontal grille bars that connect the GT Pack’s front fog lights to the Pony emblem. These were removed in '68.

My verdict: It's a '67.

I will agree that the side crease and the scoop behind the door have 67/68 contours, but the whole grill looks earlier to me.

Let me just suggest that the sculptor took some poetic license, or was more after the general feel of the car than he/she was about accurate contours and dimensions. Not as bad as the department 56 cars, but leaning in that direction.

I agree with RoyBoy on the artistic license taken by the sculptors.  The grill looks like a 65-66 while the sides look 67.  The tail light panel would solve the issue, though.

Not to pick nits (OK, I am) but the whole terminology of cars has changed over the years.  I look at the car as a hardtop, not a coupe.  That was to distinguish it from a convertible.  In (very) old school terms, a coupe does not have a back seat, while a sedan does, no matter how many doors it has.  Yeah, recently any car with two doors is called a coupe while a four door is a sedan.  But the word "sedan" has either a stogy connotation, or one of luxury, while "coupe" sounds more sporty.  However, here's MY version of a coupe:

37 coupe

While here's a sedan (two door, or as FoMoCo described it "Tudor");

By the way, the sedan is mine, in my driveway.

OK, OK, it's nit picking, but maybe I'm stuck in the past.

All in all, though, the Mustang is a nice vehicle for our layouts.  I'll be looking for one.... or two..  Now to find a decent 37 Ford...

Here are the side and rear views of my controversial Mustang.  Remember, I painted over the trunk chrome strip.

Nobody mentioned my crummy whitewalls.  Thank you.

Those views certainly clear up the controversy. It seems like the front 3/4 view is the worst. The rear and side view definitely say 67.

Casey,

Those tools are just the ticket for any shop or garage on a layout!  I have the Barry's Custom Shop from Pine Canyon, and they'll fill up the bays just fine, thanks!  As far as the people go, there's a nice variety to them.  Now, if we can just keep those 1:64 folks from having to stand on small circles of plastic,...

And it's still not a "coupe"...

TRM, thanks on my 37, and the white walls are just fine.  My son's 66 had period wheels and black walls.
