This bus has been rebuilt over 15 years at our Railway museum shops by the owner. Here is my model on my layout and with the real bus and the bus on its first full trip over mountain roads. It ran great was hard to keep ahead for photos. This is my favorite bus design. Looks great and recall as a pre schooler riding in the front upper seat looking out that big upper front window on a trip to Disneyland. Brings back memories, I rode one from NYC to Hammond, Indiana in 1959. Sure beat hitch hiking. from the Jersey side of the Holland Tunnel. John
November 1962, rode one from San Diego to Chicago. 
Beautiful, both the model and the prototype. I plan on purchasing a 1/43 Scenicruiser also, but with the red-white-blue livery that came after that one.

Ask your friend if he is familiar with the “Bus Grease Monkey.” I know that sounds like an awful name, but Scott is an expert on servicing and repairing these old busses, especially the old two-stroke Detroit Diesels that powered all of them. He has a very interesting YouTube channel.
He rebuilt the whole bus including engine and transmission. Was a joy to see it running after so many years in pieces in our railway museum engine shops.
Would it be safe to assume the "Scenicruiser" was inspired by the railroad vista dome?
I rode one from Tannersville, PA to Stroudsburg, probably about only 10 miles when I was young. My aunt and uncle lived in Tannersville, and my cousin didn’t drive yet. We just wanted to see what it was like. My cousin was a real bus fan! Even though it was a short trip, it was impressive!
