I know you are only supposed to attend as a guest once. Is this actually monitored/enforced? I want to bring my dad a second time and not sure if he really needs to become a member.

I agree with that even though I don't know how far back the records go. When I registered my brother at the door I know they checked some book to see if his name was in it.

I wonder what they do with people that have very common names (like John Smith)? Do they have any other identification criteria?
I ask because I have a friend with a rather common name in the area that may want to attend one day. He is not in the hobby, so he has no reason to join, but may want to come along to hang out with me for a day.

My son came as a guest for his first time and had to show his driver's license as picture id. They may record it by driver's license number

Since you know that a guest is only supposed to come once, why not play by the rules and get your dad to join TCA, or pay for his membership?
It's easier than ever now and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing the right thing.
Yes, like Bob said. Get your dad to join. That way if he wants to come again he'll already be a member. He can attend as often as he wants. Get him a membership for his birthday or Christmas or just cause he's your dad. I take it he's a senior citizen? I think there is a discount for being a senior.

I believe that the senior discount is for 65 and older with 10 years TCA Membership.
I know folks whose father joined just so he could attend the shows with his son. The dad had no interest in trains. I've been paying for both of my son's memberships, just in case they want to come along to a closed show with me. Neither is particularly interested in trains right now.

Why not get him a membership as a gift for say his birthday or fathers Day. Then all you need to do is get his signature.

We don't advocate forgery either. 
BTW, he can sign up at York if he doens't do so beforehand.
