Greetings to my Hafner friends!  Attached is a photo of two early Hafner locos.  I note that when the gold trim was applied to the headlight, presumably in a rush, the paint leaked.  The engine on the left benefited from a correction, thus the paint is only in the seam of the two halves.  The one on the right skipped careful attention to detail:  the paint runs down the front of the boiler.

My interests run to manufacturing history.  Nearly 100 years later, I appreciate that somebody on the line decorated these models.

It's just an observation/opinion but they say you never "own" an antique.  It simply passes through your hands.  Well, while I have these two little guys in my care, here is an acknowledgement to the individual/s, nearly 100 years ago, who were responsible for hand painting the gold trim on Hafners.

Tsu tsu, Little Trains!
