Stumbled upon this today and I think it’s worth sharing for those who clean their track by hand. I didn’t want to deal with having to wash rags after they got dirty so I picked up some of the blue heavy duty “garage” paper towels with the intention of using them on a block of wood. But then our Swiffer mop caught my eye. The head comes off the pole by pushing two buttons. So short story shorter, have a look at the pics and video. The paper towels are thick enough that you can flip it over when one side gets too dirty and use again. Then just throw it away. The hand holder swivels which makes movement easy.

Thanks Traindiesel. It’s pretty convenient. With the handle, you’re able to exert good downward pressure while cleaning.
Thats a handy idea.
I saw the picture of the can of alcohol, so now we need 5 posts about ventilation, and 5 on not smoking while cleaning with alcohol.
I might try your method sometime while my wife is not around and I can get to the swiffer. Those blue paper towels are pretty durable.
Great idea! This will help me with cleaning track that's just a little bit too far for me to reach.
Just a suggestion, switch to low odor mineral spirits ( a non polar solvent) to clean track... it might keep track cleaner longer .
Thanks for the suggestion Third Rail. What brand do you use?
Search this forum for polar versus non- polar cleaners and you may change your mind using Denatured alcohol?
here is one:
Hi Obuckler. Thanks for the link. I will switch, the denatured alcohol gave me a headache.
