I was listening to the song "California Zephyr" by Hank Williams and it's a pretty good song, but he refers to it as "Union Pacific queen" which doesn't make any sense to me since the UP wasn't one of the original three operators of the train. Anybody know the story behind this?

"California Zephyr" was actually posthumously released from a demo recording.  Call those lyrics poetic license.  It was  a minor effort by the legendary Hank Williams, who wrote some truly great country songs like "Your Cheatin' Heart," a personal favorite of  mine.  Sadly he died before his thirtieth birthday due to alcohol and prescription pain killer abuse.
