Friends,

Marty will be celebrating a birthday in a few days. As many of you know, Marty has been battling cancer and has been going for chemotherapy.

Marty has been a great friend for many years, and is very well respected on this forum as he has helped many for a long time.

I would like to wish Marty a Happy Birthday and hope he gets well soon. I would also like to thank Dotty for taking great care of him.

I am posting this thread a few days before Marty's birthday so that all who want to can wish him a Happy Birthday and a get well soon here, and thank Dotty for taking care of him.  Hopefully it will make Marty and Dotty happy, even if just for a short time.

Also wishing all my friends on the forum a Happy Thanksgiving.

Dear Marty & Dotty,

It can be no coincidence that Marty's birthday is so close to Thanksgiving!  We are all thankful for both of you and for the progress you've made during this terribly painful, stressful period.  Your trials and challenges are almost beyond counting and the weight of them boggles the mind but we are promised that we will be given no burden that we cannot bear.

Grace and peace to you,

Rapid Transit Holmes

and his loyal dog Tancred

Before wishing you a Happy Birthday, Marty, I wanted to watch the video of your layout on the 50th Anniversay Set of OGR Great Layout Adventures. I knew it was going to be good,  having seen your layout featured in OGR magazine numerous times over the years, but seeing that video of you and your layout this morning was an amazing experience.

The operating catenary, bridges, scenery, turntable, stations and other structures and, of course, the trains, are all stunning. It was also great to see that such a highly functioning layout like yours can be made using tubular track, which is what I have.

Thank you so much, Marty, for sharing your magnificent layout with us on the video.

Wishing you the Happiest of Birthdays, Arnold
