I build them with two 1.5F 5V AVX supercaps and a Keystone 9V battery connector.  The two caps are connected in series and the leads soldered to the battery connector.  Heatshrink finishes the build.  Positive lead to the smaller terminal.

My total cost, around $5, principally because I use name brand capacitors and the more expensive Keystone battery clip.  If you use no-name caps and the battery leads, you can build them for around $2.  In that case, make sure you use the black lead as positive as you're making a battery, not connecting to it.

Is something like this any better for the electronics than a BCR for a 5v engine?I use the EBL batteries in my 5v engines.
