Has anyone used this Radio Shack lighted SPST rocker?

First off its 110v not 24v so if you were planning to use it for low volt it wont work. otherwise here's how Connect one white wire coming out of small black converter box to neutral 110v. Assuming that you are using the switch to control the hot side of your 110v. circuit, connect the other white wire to the switched side of the switch. This will make the blue LEDs light when the switch is closed. Of course, you may want the LEDs to light from another 110v. source, and this switch design allows you to do so.

Click on your link to the switch and then click on the reviews. Several people have commented that there is no schematic supplied but discuss how to connect it. They even talk about removing the "black box" and wiring it with low voltage. JP

JP...yes, there is no schematic and I read the reviews but am still not sure. One comment states removing the box eliminates the LED, which defeats the intent of having a lighted rocker. I'm hoping someone has used this switch with the light.

The best way to wire switches is to go to lowes and buy some single pole single throw(Simply On and OFF) switches.These are the heavy duty 20 Amp Bat Handle switches like for cars and trucks.

Arrange your switches on your control panel so the Off position is always towards you and ON is always away from you.Then without having to worry about a lighted switch you can look at a glance and tell if a switch is on or not

I used Radio Shack lighted switches on my control panel to turn on power blocks for all my buildings and accessories. The ones I used didn't have LED's but work great. They are SPST rated at 10 amps 110V. These are running anywhere from 10 volts to 14 volts and light up great.

Paul...aren't yours rated 30A @ 12VDC? Is this the one? Can you provide a schematic or explain how you wired it using the three prong terminals? Unfortunately, I have no documentation or schematic. Thanks.~ Rick

Correct the other type I used is rated 10 amps at 125VAC. As you can see it lights up nice also.

Pat...I hooked up the switch which properly turns on/off power to the siding but the light does not work. I tried reversing the white wires (one to the center rail and the other to the outside rail) but still no luck. Maybe the light is defective or Albert is correct in that this requires 120v (and your Mouser switch is different than this Radio Shack switch).

Thanks for the replies, guys. Paul...I did see that comment. If that's the case, I don't want to go to the extreme of adding a 12VDC power supply just to have a light on my switch. It's going back to Radio Shack. Maybe they can test it for me. Pat, thank you for sending me your diagram. The RS switch certainly looks like yours.

I agree with DPC on this - handle position as an indicator - no lighting
needed.

I use Atlas Selectors a lot. Easy to wire and gang, plus, as I wired them,
up is ON, down is OFF.
