Good Day,
Received a reply from a friend at Lionel today. There will be a separate American Flyer 2015 Vol. 2 catalog.

Swafford,
I hope you are right about this but it is contrary to what I have heard. It could to a chance for Lionel to correct some of the complaints that have echoed here and on some other boards such as adding back the RR Crossing to Fast Track and the Mechanical Reefer/Modern Freight.
We shall see as there is no sense to doing a new catalog unless you have something new to show.

Good Day Gentlemen,
My inquiry this weekend about a American Flyer 2015 Vol. 2 Catalog was answered by Matt Ashba the Director of Lionel Product Planning. I'd say there is a good chance we'll see a 2015 Vol. 2 for American Flyer.
Best Regards,
Swafford
I'll be shocked if there is much in the way of new product.
I would think there has to be something new or else it would not be worth it to print the new catalogs. Maybe it will have 2016 previews.
I posted a question on the Flyer Facebook page about the issue, and also asked Derek of Notch 6 if he would be willing to reach out to Lionel at the LCCA convention that is occurring right now to see if he can get the lowdown. Derek has been good to the S gaugers in the past in gathering us intel on what the big manufactures are doing in S the past few years.

With Lionels statements relating to taking a breather, I expect some new roadnames of previously introduced products, maybe some new track variations and maybe a few 2016 previews.

If reruns are the order of the day - I'm game for a finish to the UP heritage SD70s, I would also love to see the mikados and Pacifics make a Legacy return. Seems to me that Lionel has not exploited the tooling on these to the max yet. PLEASE try the 57' MR again. I'm sure the traditional legacy ALCo PAs would be popular in other flavors and Santa Fe, Milwaukee Road and green Pullman could be winners in the heavyweight cars. All of these would cost me money...potentially a lot of money.
Ben.
It would be nice to have the ES44Cs in NS in a couple cab numbers with the correct upper headlights which these models have. They were made to be in NS paint.
Sorry Guys no second catalog. I sent Matt Ashba a note to confirm it and here is what he sent back.

HI Bill,
I think there’s some misinformation out there. Please wait for the next Flyer Catalog in 2016!
Thanks,
Matt

Makes sense - especially given the recent occurrences with Lionel and S. Hard to miss a catalog you never expected so no big deal.
Come'on MTH!
Ben.
Agreed. Unless they had new product to offer it would have been a waste. Better that they ship some of the backlogged products.

Good Day Gentlemen,
Sorry..............I'm bad!
This is the email that I sent: Good Day Matt, Will Lionel present an American Flyer catalog this autumn ? Vol. 2? Best Regards, Frank
reply from Matt.................."Should see a separate catalog again Frank"
Sorry my assumption was wrong!
Regards,
Swafford
One should never assume........
Casey....
You must be in the wrong place
Ben.
Swafford,
Don't feel bad, his response really did not answer your question. You were asking about a volume 2 this autum. He answered essentially that there again would be a seperate catalog next year as in years past and did not address the question you asked.
