Help! please Lionel PRewar 46 crossing gate

Well I got the solenoid out and somehow got the spring that makes it go up bent ... SO. I took it all apart and now have no clue how the spring or where it goes .. DOES anyone have a diagram of the way its put together or can tell me step by step how to.. I really would appreciate it...DANiel

I removed all three pins .. on the red part on one side is a slot the other side is a slot with 5 notches I thought the spring when in the notches but nothing working I got the gate to close all the time instead of up all the time ... BOy they really built these prewar toys!!!
