I sometimes take a video with my point-and-shoot camera and copy it to my flash drive.  If I want to share that video here I have to run it up to youtube in order to get a URL address for the link.

Is there a way to insert a video into a post where the video is on a flash drive and NOT on some internet site?

thanks - walt, and with apologies if this is an old question/topic, albeit one that I obviously missed.

The only drawback is a 100 MB file size limit. If the video you want to post is larger you will have to put it on You-tube anyway.

Not necessarily.

If you have the means to edit your video, you can edit out dead spots to shorten it to only the "good stuff." You can then save it with a higher compression setting to reduce the file size to the 100 MB limit.

Walt,

Do it the same way you add a picture.  Add attachments.

I promise not to keep the video in my "reply with quote".

UPDATE AFTER I MADE THE BELOW POST: i went back into the post after posting it and the video showed AND played.  IN the initial insertion it appeared that would not be the case.  THe video on my flash shows the size as 5MB.  So Ron045, I guess that does work afterall!

OLD POST:

I'll show here what happens with a recent 26 second video that I tried to post using the 'add attachments' but had to run it to youtube to get it to work.  It shows an arrow but clicking on it does not play the video.  I just noticed something interesting though: Under the post itself is the section showing what attachment was added.  There is a PICTURE of the ferris wheel and it knows it's a video but I guess it was over the limit.  Still, the image of the ferris wheels shows so some input was accepted.

The 100 MB limit is really a pita. If I shoot video over about 1 1/2 minutes on my I phone SE It is over 100 MB. If there was only a way to compress this on the I Phone it would make things much easier but then I wold have a lot of low Res video. Guess I will have to figure out how To edit video on Nero or find some other software that can do it. Any Suggestions?
