Help w/christmas fastrack spiral layout??

I did a simple one using one size curve and one level. Three levels = three circles + reversing loops.

I'm interested in this guy's track plan too. Have you tried contacting him through a comment on You-Tube?

Also... There was a P.E. layout track plan published recently that did a couple loops around the mountain but the rest of the "spiral" was an isolated section of track for the elf hand-car. I am looking for that plan too because I have been unable to find it again.

This is only two levels up but maybe it you can pick it up from here. It starts with 60" then 48" and last 36". The first jump is 6" then 10" from level at the top. The circles all need to have a common point to change diameter from. It would seem that you could keep the 60" radius as your maximum by adding some straight sections in on the bottom to clear the first level going up.

Charly- thanks for the plan! Looks great. I have done over 25 similar plans w/ old RR version plus 5-6 w/RR version 5. But it just not coming out right. On my phone now and cant look at. But will later on laptop. Thx again.

Yes, thats the video and yes others & I communicated with him but he never would actually tell us the fastrack pcs. The loops are no problem just the spiral. I have worked up something similiar but his looks pretty close to perfect circles up the mountains and mine arent.

Not to pooh Fastrack, but I would use Scaletrax Flex for that.
With ScaleTrax Flex a nice easy tightening spiral is a piece of cake.
I have flexed it down to about O-20 with no kinking or trouble.

As the video doesn't show the backside, it's hard to say. But I don't think it can be done otherwise with rigid track.

I THINK that was in CTT, either December 2011 or January 2012.

It looks to me like he made a clever use of O60, O48 and O36 as he went up around the mountain. You can see where the third level slightly overhangs the second level (look on the right side of the video at the 13 sec mark.) I've done the same in my recreation.

James... that is a very good design! It looks like it's really close to the one in the video. I thought I also detected some straight sections within the curves, but it's hard to tell in the video.

Hello all again, thanks to everyone for your response &ideas. Have been busy w/family. Im am concentrating on scatch bldg the north pole village rt now.
After looking at Charlys layout idea earlier, i went back to rr v5 and have since been able to layout the spiral. My laptop screen went out so i cant post it yet, but as soon as it gets back from shop i will.

I went back and watched that video over & over, and i did notice how part of his mountain overhangs the lower track. I realized thats part of the charm of his layout.
