I just set my system up and I am having trouble with it. I have a 100 foot loop in the house. Wired the TIU in 4 places at approx 25 ft apart. Pulled the center pin to isolate each 25 foot section. I have the engine on the track and when I turn the system on the engine starts right up. I have WIFI and I dont have to start it with my phone. No function on my phone will work. I tried to add my engine and the DCS app says it cant find an engine. Any help is appreciated. Ken

Is the light on inside the TIU?

How are you powering the TIU? Must be with either Fixed input #1 or the aux power jack.

What exact engine are you describing? model number helps. (PS2 or PS3?)

Have you tried just hooking up the TIU to a piece of track to see if it works first?

Morning Joe, The light is on in the TIU and power is Fixed input #1. Both my engines are new PS3 models. I tried my other engine last night and when I power up the system it doesnt go into start up like the other one. BUT when I go into the Android APP and try to add it the App says "no engine found"

I had this system set up on the floor when I first got it just to try it out and it ran fine on about a 40' loop. I also unhooked all of the wires going to points on the track except one to see if that would help. it made no difference.  Ken

Is the DCS/DCC switch set for DCS?

Have you checked the wire routing?

Again, what engine it is might point to the year it was produced and any release notes.

My engines are a rail king ES44AC-30-20315-1 and a

          rail king Mohawk 30-1832-1

There is no switch for DCC/DCS. I assume that is because they are MTH engines?

Joe, Both engines do the same thing. I put them on the track and when I put voltage to the track they go to start up mode. At that point I have tried to add both of them to my app and it says it cant find either.  I ran a wire from the output to just a 3' section of track and it does the same thing. Im taking the WIU and TIU to a friends house tomorrow or Friday to see what he can figure out. Ill keep you posted. Ken

Lou, do you mean the other output?

Yes. Power the TIU through Fixed 1 or the AUX input. Power your track through another channel (Fixed 2 for example) and see if everything works.

Note: If you connect power into Fixed 1 Input to power the TIU and not the AUX power port you will need to power another channel (I.E. Fixed 2) through the input (Fixed 2 Input) and then run the wires from Fixed 2 Output out to you test track.

All this is in the DCS instruction manual if you read it .

I thought one engine didn't start up? You have to understand we can only go by what you say to us. We are not there. It is harder to guess at what's wrong over the internet. So start with the very basic troubleshooting and go forward one step at a time. You have to test each component and rule out what is not the issue.

Very sorry for causing that confusion. The first time I put the Mohawk on the track I didnt have the tender hooked up to it...Duh! (If you havent guess by now im very new at this!) After that they both operated the same.
