I would not call them prototypical but they certainly are plausible.......

#14 solid wire from Romex.Push it all  straight through shrink tube first then bend to your liking. (Shrink tube- #14 solid wire- rice grain lite bulb and shroud from LHS). Cost is about 3 bucks. Great for Industrial  Factories Steel mills, Cat walks, Etc. Nick

Actually you can make the whole goose neck lamp from copper tubing using bending springs to prevent kinking the tubing.
