How about EMD GP40-2’s for future production?

Atlas offers splendid models of the GP40-2 in N and HO scales so perhaps those good folks will see fit to add an O scale version at some point in the not too distant future. I own several of the N scale units and they're very well done.

Yes, I believe there is strong interest in an O scale GP40-2. It was such a common locomotive and was operated by many roads in all areas of the country so most fans would have encountered them trackside at one time or another. I still remember when we received our new GP40-2s on Conrail. The new units were very welcome at the time.

It's too bad Athearn doesn't offer O scale motive power and, unfortunately, it'll never happen. I'm not sure the O scale/gauge market as presently constituted can support the manufacturers we have now. Perhaps once Atlas works past its issues, the GP40-2 would be a good starting point for re-establishing a solid presence in this scale. The company already offers the GP40-2 in HO and N scales so its choice would seem logical.

IF anyone else is going to do a Gp40-2 it better be a Phase II with the Sd40-2 Radiator grills. I don't need another Gp40 look-a like Gp38!

I could use a few more B&O units and a couple of PRR and RF&P units if they had them.

I agree. Count me in for a Chessie or Union Pacific GP-40.

Love the Lionel GP-30 and GP35. I run them as MU. 

But don't hold yer breath. Remember milk cars?  Before they'll consider your idea, its in Lionels DNA to run things over and over ad nauseum till they're blown out. 

MTH did a run of GP60's a few year back in different roads.

Its a slightly bigger engine and one to consider if your looking for an alternative to the tsunami of GP-35's that recently hit the market.
