When signed in to the forum, hover under your forum name at the top right, then select (click on) NOTIFICATIONS.

Uncheck On-Site ALERTS and the click on UPDATE.

That should remove it for you.

Moonman - no luck - did what you suggested then signed out and in - alerts are still there - I'll wait a few hours then try signing out and in again.

Thanx,

Paul

Well, you won't get any more new alerts. As mentioned previously, the alerts indicator would go away when I selected them and read them.

Maybe clear your browser cache, update,  log out & log in, etc.

Adriatic - took your advice and logged out and in again - still no luck.  How do you clear browser cache?

Thanx,

Paul

Multiple key press in Windows- using IE11 - CTRL+SHIFT+DELTE

or gear icon - internet options - General tab - delete browsing history - your browser will be very happy after this

Clearing the cache, and cookies in the browser should make it forget portions that it was told to recall the next time you open the browser (always restart to ensure settings actually reset).  The cache is to speed up later re-loading of things for you. If the alert notice memory is just site based, it isn't in the cache though.

So, The issue might actually be the ogrf host, hoop.la's, not yours; and seems to be the case you've done a cleaning already especially. After changing settings in the browser, reboot the os too (at least resart app, program, or browser).

With all the different operating systems today, some features may vanish for a bit on occasion, unnoticed / unknown by the update coders till complaints roll in.

The big names update without checking too close because there are so many systems and machines they can't really test them all, but can guess real close on the popular ones, and fix the odd stuff later....maybe.  Hoop.la is waiting on those same changes and having to adjust to us too.

Fyi, on Android I loose so many funtions for short periods it would make your head spin. Try a few hours to a few weeks for being able to post a pic, or maybe a video, or no attachment tool at all. Maybe not being able to view pictures at the bottom when folks have not added them into the text, no menu access, search might not work for days, etc, etc, etc. (glitchy, but android does reboot very fast and clean, kinda like a safe mode, it's strength)  I'm used to it now I guess. I just clear the cache, quip about what's broken, and wait it out with rolled eyes

Thinking about it, I haven't had any alerts myself in a very long time.

I know some of you are trying to be helpful, but the browser cache has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH ALERTS.

Here are the ACCURATE FACTS ABOUT ALERTS:

  • Alerts cannot be manually deleted.
  • Alerts will display in the order they were created, with most recent displaying first.
  • Whether read or unread, alerts drop off the list after 7 days.
  • If you have a large number of alerts to display, then pagination links will display to allow you to see them all.

If you don't want to get any more alerts, shut them off in your NOTIFICATIONS area. After a week, they'll be all gone.
