Ok so i understand everything except 1 thing

i hookup the lionel Legacy command base with the lionel 6-81499 cable/power supply, then hookup the lionel LCS wifi with the pdi cable, from there to the ser2 with another pdi cable, then run the MTH 50-1032 cable from the ser2 to the mth tiu with a Y cable attached to the front ser port of the tiu now here is where i see the problem the cable that mth gives you to run from the wiu to the tiu has a type A usb port on one side and a type B usb port on the other side  since i am using a older tiu with just a db9 serial port on it i would need a DB9 serial to usb TYPE B adapter, but i cannot find those i dont think anyone makes them only a DB9 serial to type A usb, so the only thing i can think of is you cannot use the cable that MTH supplies with the WIU is that correct i would have to get a usb cable with type A ends on both sides and use that cable with a serial db9 to usb type A adapter which are readly available on amazon and that would plug into the other port of the Y cable on the tiu. Does this all sound right that i cannot use the Usb cable supplied by Mth for the old style Tiu, My guess is it can only be used for the Newer rev L TIU.

Thanks

Prentice

Ok marty i understand now, thanks for the help

Let me ask you your opinion of the TIU

if you had a choice to use the tiu with the mth remote or the tiu with the wiu hooked to it  and use your iphone or ipad  what way would you go

I’m a remote man myself BUT I find the MTH app well done. I have it all hooked up and use it maybe once every 10 sessions. I am using the app only on the Christmas tree layout with an Explorer.

I just like the feel of the buttons. Personal preference but I do like to stay up on the new technologies so I at least keep current.
