Just thot to share a way I store different color wire drops. Simply take some plastic pipe scrap pieces and stuff them with the various pieces of wire ends and precut drops. Then as the build out progresses I can have the color I need ready to use w/o digging through a pile.

I just used a rubber band, because it can self adjust as the leads are consumed. On my layout I only use three colors of drops. Red for center rail, black for ground and yellow for detection. I probably went through around four thousand on the layout, but I'm done with all that now.
Elliot, You are so fortunate to be done. Running conventional with various selective control stations and somewhere around 100 switchable sidings and blocks, using twelve wire colors and wire markers bring me the only sanity that I could claim.
I'm closing in on you in 500' reels of wire used but am totally impressed with the under layout circuit boards (turnout controls?) you have posted earlier. R/C battery power would be the only path I would take if I was starting from first purchase.
