I referenced the manual for this engine and removed 6 silver phillips head screws. The  manual diagram shows 4 of these screws and references 2 additional body mount screws located under the front truck. After removing the screws the shell still seems  attached to the body, under a lite magnifying lamp I could not locate a parting line of the shell and frame body.Thanks in advance for your response.

It’s been a few years since I had one of these apart. Have you ever pulled the body on an Atlas diesel before? They’re built different from MTH or Lionel models with their shells mounted on simple sheet metal frames. And so they come apart differently. You have to gently pull the handrails out of the cab where indicated below. The hoods and cab are all that come off. The walkways are part of the frame, not the “shell.” But if none of that is news, maybe check for another pair of screws under the other truck.
