Dave, very nice set, and very nice price.  congratulations.

Late "transition" period, 1931-1932, Irvington production after Bridgeport was closed down.   overlandflyer is right, the matching electric boxcab loco was the 1651.   I'm not sure about a steam profile loco for these - it would have been a lionel relabeled for the purpose.   last gasp for the ives name before lionel pulled the plug.

I bought this nice set of Ives coaches recently. What would be the appropriate loco for them?

Here's the eBay link to them. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390...id=p3984.m1497.l2649

Nothing! I think you should let an American friend who lent you his glasses at York buy them from you and he'll know what to do with them!

Very nice set Dave! I would say a steamer of some kind would look good with them.

That's right Chris, thanks for reminding me, as I sit here typing with 2 pairs of old glasses on. Yes, I've just lost my reading glasses again, this time for keeps!!!

Thank you all, for the info, and thank you Chris for  the glasses, AND getting me interested in old US tinplate. I was just running out of other stuff to buy...yeh right.
