I did the guy thing! switch pins :-(

I read the instructions for my Lionel 5166 O-72” switch and put the insulator pins the same way for all the Lionel switches. The O-31” switched are not liking it! After reading the O-31” instructions on line, I need to redo allot of pins. What was Lionel thinking when moving insulator the pin configurations around?
