Rich: congratulations on achieving that very special mark of 50 Years with your Bride Linda. I hope that me and my Bride will make that mark we just past 35 in January. Enjoy the semi retirement and I to love that Land Yacht the bride and I hope to acquire one but not quite as big in the next few years. We also have never meant but you and that yacht are welcome in our driveway anytime so if in the State College, PA area drop a line we have more than just trains in common. Marty I also remember Dinah and that song only I am a Ford guy.

You've got to credit Rich for without him there would be no OGR forum and magazine.  He's obviously done well in his career and I guess that at this point in life he enjoys taking an easier business role. Being married 50 years is quite an accomplishment in itself. Hope that the Melvin's get a chance to travel the USA more. This is a large country and there is so much to see. The great home on wheels that they own is a perfect vehicle in which to do so.

Congratulations on 50 years with Linda, Rich. Tell her Linda and I said Hello. A friend of mine who stayed single and is a school teacher (science), spent his last 40 or more summers off, traveling the U.S. He has visited every National Forest and the best of the state parks in the U.S., several times over. I asked him which was his favorite. He told me he can't get enough of the Hocking Hills State Parks, in your own state, southern Ohio. OHIO??? I was shocked and had to see for myself. I've been there twice now and they sure are awesome. Best to visit there after a lot of rain or in the spring. It enhances the waterfalls.

I had thought about that but I heard something. Thomas would have no problem being classified under steam(well, because he is a steam engine after all), nor would Henry or Percy. Most of the other engines on Sodor would have no problem with that or being listed as "Thomas". However Gordon would be very cross. Mr. Conductor told me when the folks at Brio were negotiating the contracts that Gordon insisted he be listed all by himself(ahead of Thomas in the contract), and was very difficult during the first prototype runs. Mr. Conductor also went on to say that he is being difficult coming to Oscale as well for very much the same reason with Brio.Gordon madVery cross indeed.

Great news!  I know how hard it is to let your Engineer's license go, regardless of rationale.

When you visit Yellowstone, take US 90 in one direction to follow "Da Q" from Sheridan to Billings and the NP/MRL from Billings to Livingston.  Let me know your schedule, I'll buy you lunch in Billings.  A side trip from Livingston to Bozeman, over Bozeman Pass - paralleling the NP, is well worth doing:

80 follows the UP and is not quite as scenic but perhaps you could time the move to coincide with a run of the 844.  With your credentials, there's no doubt that you could tour the shrine at Cheyenne.
