If you post a comment and the word E-bay is included is that grounds for it being deleted.

Pretty much YES!
I understand why there would be a prohibition on promoting one's own (possibly forbidden word) auction listings. However, I don't understand why someone can't mention (possibly forbidden word) when pointing out a source for parts or discussing what an item sold for.
I’m not sure if posting the name is grounds for deletion, but posting a link to an auction there certainly is.

Bingo!
The word “Ebay” is not among the words we use in the censors list. And just using the word in a post is not a problem. However, post an Ebay link here, and the post is toast.
Hey! I kinda like that…”The post is toast.” It even rhymes.

Duly noted. I just went and removed the eBay link from one of my posts that I did earlier today before Mods or you caught it. Whew!
I have used the word "eBay" many times without issue on here. The only time I had a post deleted is when I inserted a link to the bay. Even if you are posting an eBay link to help someone, as was the case with my post, it is not allowed.
I truly do love this website. Its is fantastic
Simple solution, if you want to help someone with a link from the bay, send it to them via email from their profile,….problem solved,…..unless they don’t have an email address in their profile, and then that’s their fault,…😉

Pat had the elegant answer again.
Can I ask why it is prohibited? I don’t see it mentioned in the Terms of Service.

It’s like a wee bit of taboo,….but honestly, it’s a slap in the face to the sponsors of this forum that keep the lights on,….put yourself in the sponsor’s shoes,….you’re paying OGR to advertise your wares on here, and somebody undermines your advertising with links to the bay,……if bay links were to run ramped, why would the sponsors want to be bothered??….then it’s boom, boom, out goes the lights,…

Another issue with folks posting links to Ebay is they ultimately end up being a derogatory discussion on how stupid people can be spending that much money on an item. In reality is none of our business how much someone is willing to spend on an auction for an item they want. The discussion would get rather ignorant at times.
@Überstationmeister posted:See "use of the forum" section: "You also agree that you will not use this forum to promote other forums including but not limited to ebay and similar websites via the posting of their web address, whether via a hyperlink or via text."
It is also in the for sale forum rules: "Links to other other sites where items are for sale is not allowed...ie ebay, etc."
Ah, thanks. I didn't see that in there.
