In Praise of the Eastern Div of TCA

I completely agree with Don's statement. For the many thousands who attend each spring and fall, it is a fantastic opportunity to pursue their interest in this great hobby.

A strong "Thank you!" to the Eastern Division members who make the York meet possible.

I love going to York and this one will be my 58th straight York. But changes need to be made. Some of the rules are so far out of date it's not funny. Time for the old guard to move on and let somebody else with more energy to run the eastern division.

40 year member...proud and loud...YOUNG TURD AWARD to the Nonmembers on this Forum that cannot respect our Club...its bylaws and rules that we approve every time we pay our dues...NOONE will tear down something that took 59 years to build!!!

TCA Eastern Meet is the most exciting model railroad event in the country run by a hard working dedicated crew of wonderful folks.

 People on here that say they won't go to York because of this type of thread, that's just a excuse. They have other issues for sure.

The VOLUNTEERS who organize and conduct the York Meet are among the most dedicated folks you can find when it comes to doing their very best to support the hobby and to make the event a safe and enjoyable one for all who attend.

We see some of them at the meet itself, but it's important to remember that there are others who work behind the scenes. In the six months that we here are debating rules, griping about this that or the other, or anxiously waiting for the next event, these folks are working tirelessly to assure that those who attend are rewarded with the largest and most successful toy train meet in the entire world.  And it's hard to argue with success. 

Thank You EDDIE...I always imagine that some of this INCENDIARY stuff is TRAIN ENVY...that is, I think some of the Nonmembers are forbidden by their spousal units to buy an $18 Boxcar.  Jealously is a very bad personality trait...I see it often on this Forum.  Perhaps some of the MONEY BOYS should not rub it in on the HAVE NOTS???   As you said, there are other ISSUES here...some instilled during childhood.  GEEZ, I sound like ACADEMIA INCARNATED!!!  Dr. RON???

TCA Member but never been to the York Meet. When I lived in New Jersey I always seemed to stop at Hershey and Carlisle for old car parts. Anyway, I was in HO then

It seems to me that a majority of Forum folks are thrilled by attending the Meet so something is attractive enough to offset the so-called "old school" rules . 

It is all those $18.00 boxcars we long for...that's what keeps coming for more.

Putting on something as big as York - and doing so repeatedly, consistently, and successfully - certainly seems to me to be an enormous undertaking.  The amount of organization, planning, money, and sheer hard work involved must be huge.  "Greatest Show on Earth" indeed.  Cheers!

Me too(but I'm a relative newcomer at only 16 years into my membership).  Funny that there have been changes since then that were clamored for at the time (internet registration comes to mind - now reality) that are not remembered.

But most importantly a big "me too!" to what Don originally posted here!

The original poster makes a fair point.  While some of us have differences over certain Eastern District TCA rules, it is important to bear in mind, and be appreciative and thankful, of the work that goes into putting these events together.  Thank you to those who volunteer.

Like cutting way back on the seemingly incessant PA announcements...a change that was implemented after enough people spoke up, including many of them right here on this forum.

Those volunteers always get rewarded at the silver hall desk. Just ask Debbie Geiser and crew-oreos, mallomars, ritz, etc. Time to place your Nabisco snack order Debbie!

Wow a post of praise and we can still find a few that need to take a shot.  Way to go guys.
