Bob...I assume Rich will chime in here but I can assure you that the site has not been down all week and as a matter of fact, I don't understand that you can't access the site yet you were able to post this question...???  So...I am somewhat confused.  Regardless, if you are having problems of this nature and can't access site(s) for long periods of time, I would call your internet provider and ask questions....

Thanks,

Alan

Say what?

You don't need Bing, Yahoo, Google or any other search engine to access this forum. All you need is: https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com.

When you go to a search engine to "find" us, all they are doing is providing you with a link to get here. You are not going "through" them, they just help you get here.

You are also making more work for yourself. Bookmark https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com, put it in your desktop or browser tool bar and you can get here with ONE CLICK.

There is no need to use a search engine when you already know where you want to go!

Rich,

I am going to do a malware debug and then punch up the OGR the way you suggest, and then put it directly into my favorites list, and see if it makes any difference.  The Wndows 7 I am running on my PC is becoming outdated no matter how I upgrade it, and is having problems with the OGR forum, the funny thing is the Shooting Sportsman, Grouse Board and 28 Gauge Forum's are still compatible.  I am typing this on our windows 8 home computer and have no problems with OGR at all using windows 8.  I am headed for a new PC in the near future unfortunately, which will probably clear the entire problem on my end.

It is not a Windows 7 problem. I still use Windows XP Pro on my home computer and everything here works just fine on that machine.

I run Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1 on my laptop and OGR office machines. Everything works just fine there, too, using FIREFOX, NOT Internet Exploder.

Given what I have seen, I would not touch Windows 8 with a 10-foot pole. Win XP Pro and Win 7 Pro work just fine thank you, so why fix something that is not broken? Yes, I know that Microsoft no longer "supports" Windows XP, but that doesn't mean the program doesn't work any more.

Microsoft's so-called "updates" just slow your machine down and eventually get you to the point where you think you have to buy something new so your computer will work like it did when it was new. I stopped doing Windows "updates" years ago and all my computers still work just like they did when I first installed them. The machines here in the OGR office that we still do updates on get slower and slower as all these so-called "updates" slow the machine down a little each time an update is done.

No thanks.

Rich,

After a Malware debugging which lasted 3 hrs and 22 minutes, 28 attackers were removed from W7XPP, I tried both your way and then used Yahoo and the Yahoo now works at the same speed, as your direct route. No need for the FireFox at this time, on my PC.  From now on I turn the PC completely off at night and unplug it, removing the battery.  I did not know W8 was a poor system, our home computer works just fine with it.

Dave,

If you are using IE I think you could have a need for Firefox pretty much most of the time. IE is a magnet for all the stuff you removed earlier. There is no pain in changing; everything is transferred smoothly. Years ago when I signed up for the Fastrack forum I had to get a Yahoo email address. I have never sent a message from that account, but when I log in it is loaded with spam messages. And every time anyone searches with them all kinds of ads show up. That's why we are questioning why you would use a search engine to access the forum when a bookmark skips that whole process. Please take this as information you can use and not direct criticism, because that is certainly not my intent. You supply a lot of good information here and if you can't connect, we don't get that either.
