Installing Traction Tires On Lionel Green Alco FAs - Any Tips On Method & Tools?

Lionel included traction tires with my newly purchased Green Alco FAs that front the Green passenger set.  The accompanying Operator's  Manual states that the traction tires are included for those whose track system will not benefit from the Magnetraction in the locomotive.

In the brief discussion in the current Operator's Manual, the owner is referred to a Lionel Authorized Repair Facility (or technician) for the installation.  Since my current track system is non-ferrous, has anyone attached the traction tires, and, if so, what is the procedure?  Importantly is it necessary to remove and replace the trucks?

Thanks!

Dennis,  there should be traction tires already installed, the ones that they include are spares for when the original traction tires break.  I have not looked carefully at the trucks to see if you need to take anything off first if and when you need to replace them.

enjoy the set!

Thanks Dave and John!  I'll take a look, as that has always been my experience when traction tires are included with a locomotive.   That would be pretty funny, because I checked the drive gears before I ran them, and greased the gears because they were pretty dry.

As I strongly suspected after reading Dave and John's above posts, the traction tires are already installed on my newly purchased locos.  I somehow managed to entirely miss the final section of the Instruction Manual, which also discusses the traction tires, and clearly indicates that they are already installed.  Additionally,  I missed the four traction tires that are aptly circled in red in the photo directly above that Rob was kind enough to post as part of his response.  So, sorry for the false alarm, and if you decide to purchase this very nice set that is well reviewed by Dave and John in two earlier threads, we have decisively determined that the powered loco is factory equipped with both Magnetraction and traction tires -- notwithstanding the erroneous O.P.!

Most of the new stuff has the screws to remove the sideframes accessible from the bottom, which makes taking them off to install tires very easy.  Once you remove the sideframes, it's dirt simple to put new tires on.

Thanks Joe!  I thought that your post was very helpful and appreciate your taking the time to post the information.  Implicit in your post is the necessity to remove the trucks, which was really at the heart of the question.  I'm more familiar with the all or nothing approach to track adhesion -- Magnetraction or traction tires.  So, when I misread the manual, and didn't look closely enough for the traction tires, I was not surprised that the tires would have to be added after purchase.  That was obviously wrong!
