Actually, unless you are using Ross Ready switches, there is no power transferred through the switch to the various legs. I'm pretty sure that's how GarGraves switches are made.

You don't need insulating pins, because the switch is naturally insulated. What you do need is feeders to bring power to all the small rail segments between the switches and the crossing.

Furthermore, it is all meaningless if you are going all TMCC, from a control perspective. The only time any kind of separation is necessary in an all command environment would be to have multiple power districts.
