Post your non-O scale stuff here!
I was looking to buy a set of Canadian Pacific Sd40-2s in HO scale that I would hopefully get custom painted to Buffalo and Pittsburgh #3343 and #3346. I would like them both to have DCC and sound. I am an HO newbie and I was wondering if anyone could (not to be cheesy, but)"put me on the right track". Intermountain CP Sd40-2 or Bowser CP Sd40-2?

Well if nothing else, the Bowser models are supposed to be specifically of Canadian prototypes, with the details found on models manufactured by GMD. This would include things like class lights, headlights, vertical end steps, 102" nose length for CP, and so on.
I don't own either as I'm out of HO now, but what I have read about both suggests the consensus is that the Bowser model is a better choice in terms of fit and finish and also performance. Factor in the Canadian detailing of the Bowser and I think it's kind of a no brainer. Take a look around a place like the Atlas Rescue Forum where they have discussed both models. Maybe Model Railroad Hobbyist on their forum. There's plenty of discussion out there about both models.
You might be able to get undecs based on CP prototypes if you are going to repaint them anyway.

I have two Intermountain CNW units and I'm very happy with them. They look and run well and the ESU LokSound is quite good. At a sticker price of $225 with sound full retail they're a good bargain. Haven't seen the .Bowser models but bowser does make beautiful stuff so I would say detail wise the bowser is going to be better with more road specific detail
