That sounds very interesting, but I was always a little skeptical about any water on my platform let alone having three or four engines puffing the stuff all over the layout.

As announced in our NL 44 Easter 2015 we have been appointed consultants for Taiwan Sugar that has commissioned 840 of their first loco the SL 370 (RRP 2,766 GBP ex VAT). This loco features a patented "smoke" generator which is actually ionised water. We are studying how to incorporate this feature in our upcoming Diesels.

Hot Bee Electric Toys has a smoke unit that uses water in their toy train. Holds about an ounce of water and won't run out if turned upside down. Operates on 3 volts DC. It can be purchased on Amazon for $21.99 for anyone who may want to try to swap out. LOL

I'd be afraid of water vapor condensing and causing rust on track and locomotive surfaces.

Some folks on this forum have been clamoring for something like this,……y’all can keep it,….I’m trying to keep moisture out of the train room,….I’m certainly not going to introduce it,…..this just can’t be a good combination given the electronics in our stuff……

so a lot of you would rather generate an oil cloud?

The oil residue is a lot harder to remove from track and everything else vs. the water vapor. If you use a hyper-sonic ionizer, you can ionize a lot of different chemicals, it's not limited to just water. Fog machine fluid uses a mixture of water, glycol and glycerin.

I got one for my 2+ grandson, he loves it but will take it off the track and point it at you! I can’t see the sonic steam generator as a substitute for our own dear smoke units in O scale, however. I imagine that they could produce a fair volume of “smoke” but who wants all that water vapor on indoor electric track?

Yep!…..we’ve been generating oil clouds since the first bottle of SP hit the shelves by Lionel,…..

oil clouds??…..really??……what will you people think of next!…🙄
