It has been said the Mikes were the Geeps of the Steam Era . . . .
Looked up the same Mikado on the bay. The headlight that is missing can only be purchased as part of the whole boiler assembly
6-48017 is the NKP Geep set according to Greenberg.
The OP is correct 6-48037 is the B &O Mikado and the new Flyerchief NKP Geep

Depends on which box you grab what you get.
I guess the only thing Lionel can say is the Mikado never came as a separate sale item. Only packed it is the set box as I remember.
The guys at Lionel are all new since the Mikgeepo was built. They can't even find the tooling.
Well, the B&O Mikado was released in 2001, the NKP GP in 2017. There's been several staff and management turnovers at the Ol' Circle L Ranch in those 16 years.
The tooling's probably buried at Sanda Kan somewhere, or at one of the sub-contractors that no longer exist or has been recycled into paper clips.

Yup... I kept the Mikado and sold the passenger cars off as soon as I could way back . The buyer was even thrilled he got the shipping box with the deal.

I have friend who wants the cars to go with the early PAs with Gilbert style motors but just won't spring for the set with the Mikado because of cost. He thinks those engines look like they are HO.
It is fun to run the cars with the PAs. I bought the B&O Pacific to pull the cars too because the Mikado was a freight engine. I guess Lionel didn't think of that.
If someone wants to get rid of the cars let me know?

The information I posted is correct. It does not refer to the recent FlyerChief offering but rather the 2 engine set offered in the late 90's.
FlyerRich,
I know they listed the 48017 I am talking about 6-48037 Geep/Mikado. I was not doubting the listing of the 48017 rather Greenbergs pricing guide which I feel is not accurate!

Thanks Mark as he called me and I connected them. By now the deal is done.
