My 2 SD70ACe's (30-4914-1E and 30-4214-1E) won't log in to the TIU at the layout (San Diego 3-Railers) it tells me No Engine to Add and I read the track and Recovered it but no success. What do I do?

I would like to give a shoutout to aznjbill as he visited San Diego with a friend, CM number one of the San Diego 3-railers, Dallas Dixon(Mountain Mover), for a another members birthday party, what a nice pair of engines he had.

Tim I would bet money that its the layout wiring and not all 3 of your engines. Never base your DCS troubles on that particular layout.

If you know Gary very well, ask him to run those on his layout in old town. It's wired up for DCS and works great, even with Lash Ups. I'm guessing they will work just fine over there.

Tim, we had the same ongoing problem for several years at the Angels Gate Club here in LA. The solution was to set up a test track for the purpose of adding engines. In addition, we make sure  the remote is tethered. Works like a charm every time. I doubt that you have problems with three engines. In many cases the club environment is not the best for adding engines.

You are certainly welcome to visit  us in San Pedro should your  travels take you to LA, Open every Saturday from 10-4. Ask for Matt or Jeff.

Jeff in LA at AGHR

NOW HERE THIS, I took it to the National City Depot where there TIU system! Can pick up the engines quicker. The TIU Recovered and found the Locos quickly, I reset them to Factory Default and I am gonna test them at the Sd3r layout. Thanks for all any of your Ideas, and now I will no longer do lash ups because like Laid Off sick said in another thread lash ups just are horrible!

Joe if you take a look at how the TIU's are set up on that layout, you would cringe, it works better if you log your engines in early in the morning and being the first person to do so. I want to suggest redoing the system but it would mean shutting down the layout and I would get stuck doing it.

I quit running lash ups last time these two lashed up because one of them derailed and it would not start. I took it to the other layout and they logged on no problems at all.
