I'm back with another quick update for my train room. I just got an email this afternoon from Tim at Mianne Benchwork regarding some updates to my benchwork plan. As soon as I pay for the benchwork, Tim will make the parts and ship them. That should be sometime in the next month or so. Also, I have pieces for wood trim that I stained today. I just have to cut and install them. Then my backdrop will be 100% complete. I will be putting a train puzzle on a piece of wood and putting that on the wall of the room, too. My layout project is really going quickly now. It's really exciting!

I have another quick update today. I now have the backdrops officially finished! I just spent the whole morning this morning with my dad, and we put up the trim on the sides and top of the backdrop. I bought the trim pieces at a local LV wood store a couple of weeks ago. Last week, I stained the trim pieces. Now the trim is done, and wow! It looks so fantastic. Now I can't wait until next month when my benchwork arrives so I can get that installed.

It's time for another quick update for my layout room. I just got an exciting email from Tim at Mianne Benchwork (a bit later than I thought, but it's okay). My benchwork is finally shipping out tomorrow! I should have the box sometime early next week! Then, my dad and I will spend some time (when neither of us are working, of course; we do have jobs constructing the benchwork.

The Benchwork has arrived! Woo hoo! I just got four big boxes from UPS this earlier this afternoon. Now I have the benchwork for my new layout. Now I just have to put the pieces together.

I also plan on adding MTH's new DCS WTIU to my new layout in the future, so I ordered the DCS Companion Book: 3rd Edition. I've been reading it to figure out how to implement the DCS system on my layout, along with Lionel's Legacy/Base 3.

Things are going fast for my layout. Stay tuned for more updates. I will probably be starting a new post series documenting the layout build.

This is going to be the final post of this series. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I will start a new series documenting the build of my new layout, the Sunrise Mountain and Western Railroad (SM&W RR) version 2.

So, what did I get accomplished this last week?

-Benchwork is done; table top boards are temporarily placed

-I have track layed down temporarily and power hooked up so I can run few trains.

-All 6 Fastrack turnouts I have are installed, programmed, and tested (they all work perfectly in both command and conventional modes)

Things I still need to do:

-Some minor troubleshooting with the power

-Attach the table top permanently

-Build a hinged bridge across the entrance of the layout

-Wire track and screw down; also, add sound-dampening material under roadbed

Here are some photos showing some progress on the layout (more coming on new post):
