IT's TEAM TRACK TUESDAY!!!  Share your team track photos here!  Team tracks are a vital part of day to day real railroad operations.  A team track is basically an undesignated siding/spur which serves no one particular industry.  Team tracks are located in remote rural areas, small towns, and large cities. Practically all types of freight cars, some passenger and MOW equipment can be on/off loaded on team tracks.   Another way one might think of a team track is a utility track because of the variety of ways it can be utilized.

This week on team track one in Lower Patsburg, a bad order car has been set out, due to a cracked axle.  A Free State Junction Railway car inspector  spotted the crack when doing routine inspection of a mixed B and O freight.  As luck would have it, BIG HOOKER and it's trusty campanion Docksider were in the immediate area on a MOW assignment.  Immediately they were dispatched to aid in retrieving the damaged car and to assist in the ensuing repair operation.     The car inspection took place not too far from team track one.  The bad order car ( a B&O hopper ) was cut out of the freight train and the dockside, with BIG HOOKER leading the way, pulled the hopper back onto the team track.  The car inspector had already alerted the dispatcher and the car department was dispatched to  team track one for a freight truck replacement.  BIG HOOKER did the heavy lifting in order to slide out the truck with the bad axle and replaced with a new truck,  transported over from the car shop by one of the railroad's newer trucks, a 1950 Chevrolet.    The entire operation was completed in three hours and twenty four minutes ... from the time the docksider pulled the damaged hopper back onto the team track to the finish of the truck's removal and replacement.   After the repair, the hopper was inspected again and then cut into the next east bound freight.

As the TTT thread continues to evolve,  I may get my freight car fleet completely weathered ... or at least most of it. LOL!   I just finished the B&O hopper today in order to have it ready for today's thread.  I've weathered cars for the last several TTT

Remember to post your railroad's team track photos here.  Everyone is welcome to participate as long as you have a team track.  It doesn't matter if you have a museum quality layout or a simple oval of track with an undesignated siding come on in and join the fun. Real life railroading team track photos are also welcome.  IMG_5442IMG_5428IMG_5433IMG_5435IMG_5441IMG_5454IMG_5460IMG_5459IMG_5472IMG_5490IMG_5463IMG_5485IMG_5484IMG_5494IMG_5546 If you miss posting on Tuesday just go ahead and post any day of the week ... no worries!

Thanks for stopping by the TEAM TRACK.  Have a wonderfully creative and fun week!!  See ya next week on TTT!

Still two weeks away from the official grand opening, but the new Everett Team Track & Community Park is already accepting deliveries via two of its three tracks.

ttt-police1

One of the first deliveries to arrive was dropped off earlier today. On board were three new Mystery Machine Style Patrol Vans for the Everett Police Department.

ttt-police2

Chief Milford convinced Township Trustees to ordered the custom vans after seeing the work of Mystery Inc. first hand. Knowing a group of kids couldn't have possibly solved the Quaker Caper alone, the chief suspected their Mystery Machine must have played a key role in capturing the Quaker Man.

"If having a funky van helps the gang at Mystery Inc., then having a funky van will help this department. These vans are absolutly essential for this department to succede." - Chief Milford.

Not everyone was so excited about the new patrol vans. In fact, many residents began making jokes about scooby-snack-donuts before the units even hit the ground.

ttt-police3

Despite all the excitement on track 2, there was some real work being done back on track 1.

ttt-police4

After a brief ceremony and a few words from Chief Milford, the vans were offloaded, inspected, and put into service on the streets of Everett.

My layout has a diner with patches of snow on it, across the street from Yankee Stadium with baseball figures on the playing field.

I used to think those patches of snow on the diner were a defect in the scene.

Not so!

Yesterday, the Yankee home opener was snowed out! The home opener is being played this afternoon. The patches of snow are perfect for today:20180403_063954

Happy TTT

Patrick- the hoppers look great. I think you should keep an eye on the guy on the bike. He seems to be in the middle of all the trouble on your team tracks.

Thomas- the new vans look great. I'm sure the local authorities will get used to them.

Tim-looks like a nice addition to the Museum.

Arnold- Spring snow UGHHHH!!!!!!

Patrick, great action packed scene. Good job weathering your hoppers.

Thomas, those are some very interesting police vans. Vans with spoilers, what will they think of next.

Arnold and Bob, yeah this weather sure sucks.

On my team track, this car was seen last week being unloaded, as one final delivery of candy made it in time for the last minute Easter shoppers...

Very nice scenes and figures.

Patrick, always enjoy Team Track Tuesday and every ones posts. Where do you all find your vehicles. I have been looking for ones to populate my layout. The main factor for me is price. I cannot justify 30 dollars and up for vehicles. I keep looking. I finally found some cars at the last train show I went too for 5 dollars apiece. They were 1/43 but I can live with that I would rather have 1/48 but they are hard to come by. I would even consider even 1/50. Any of you that can point me in the right direction to find them is appreciated. Thanks Paul

Thanks Paul 2!  Glad to hear TTT is a regular stop for you!

I find vehicles at various places.  Small community type train shows usually have the best prices on used vehicles because other folks are selling off  their overstock/vehicles they no longer want.   That being said I have bought most of mine from retailers when on sale or with gift certificates that I've received.

Used toy stores also have good deals on vehicles. I just bought some Corgi fire engines 2 for $25.  They were in like new condition.  I always keep my eyes open ( as I'm sure you do too ) for vehicles which fit my layouts historical period 1946 - late 50s.  I've even found some vehicles ( VW buses ) and farm equipment ( wagons, tractors and plows ) at my local grocery store for $1.00 each.  I always browse the toy section when doing grocery shopping ... it's the little kid in me LOL!

Every once in a while I find something on E bay for a decent price with free shipping.

Anyway that's how I find my vehicles.  I'm sure others will offer their own unique ways of finding vehicles as well.  Hope this helps you!

In a word...Ebay. Like you I also have found some bargains at train shows, but that can be hit or miss.  If you have any Dollar General stores around you, they may carry an assortment of 1/43? vehicles. At only $5.00, you can't go wrong.

Another option I have used, if your willing to put some work into it is old Tootsie toys. Here are some pics of a couple of trucks I re-habbed, also gotten from "da bay"...

As purchased from Ebay...

With a little work, some after market parts, some paint and elbow grease, you've got these...

Here is a pic with another typical "O gauge" vehicle and figure for a size comparison...

IMO they fit in quite well. I hope this helps.

The 8111 has been told to pull on on the old side track on the westside of town while other traffic moves thru. The westside has built up in the last 5 years with car lots and fast food places. The track ends at what is almost a drive thru location for a McDonald's . Ronald himself comes out to invite the crew in.  The bums seeing an easy ride to somewhere are attracted like flies.  The one crew member has found something more interesting than a Big Mac thou.  Azgary100_4665 [2)100_4784100_4802100_4806

I've found just about every vehicle in my stash on ebay or in my local thrift stores. The new Everett police vans came from ebay for about $6 each (shipped). That white delivery truck hiding in the background cost just .50 at the local thrift store. Patience and persistence are key to finding a great deal in either place.

Mark's truck rehabs are amazing and have put me on the search for some old beaters!
