IT's TEAM TRACK TUESDAY!!! Share your team track photos here!

Team tracks are a vital part of day to day real railroad operations.  Virtually every kind of freight car can be off/on loaded on a team track.  MOW equipment can be handled on team tracks and even some passenger type cars too.

This week on the Free State Junction Railway's Mountain Division a damaged 4 bay hopper car has been set out on the siding.  The car was one of several involved in a derailment about 4 miles up the line.  The dispatcher ordered the car be set out here on the Danlilu Crossing team track so car dept crews could get the car in shape to make it the 157 mile journey to the Port Chesapeake Car Repair Shop.

A B&O dockside switcher did the honors of pulling the car to this destination at a steady 10 mph.   FSJR Car Dept. supervisor estimates the car should be able to make the journey tomorrow after crews make the necessary temporary repairs.

I actually bought this Weaver 4 bay hopper for $5.OO on the Bay.  It was heat damaged....  hense the warped ends and mid section.  Thinking  this car, with a some weathering,  would be a great specimefor TTT ....   so I weathered the car Sunday ( always BIG fun! ) and took these photos.   Again demonstrating one of many ways a team track can be utilized.

So show your team track photos here.  We'd love to see them!  Everyone's welcome to participate.... from those with museum calibre layouts to folks with a simple loop of track with an undesignated spur or siding.    The purpose of this thread is to inspire one another and to keep our layouts looking fresh by regularly changing team track scenes ... just like the real railroads.    Thanks for stopping by the TEAM TRACK!  Have a wonderfully fun and creative week!!IMG_6320IMG_6321IMG_6325IMG_6351IMG_6324IMG_6319IMG_6332IMG_6339IMG_6345IMG_6348IMG_6276IMG_6294IMG_6278IMG_6283IMG_6305IMG_6366

Wow Patrick, that sure is one messed up hopper. That must have been some derailment. I'm surprised they let that car travel at 10 MPH. Walking speed might have been more appropriate. Great weathering by the way.

This week, with everyone in the clear, we see a shipment of sheet steel being unloaded for delivery to nearby steel fabrication factory...

One down, and the chains are being removed...

Now ready for the next one...

Patrick, those steel plates are ridiculously easy to make. It's just painted card board with some powdered graphite rubbed over it to give it that metallic sheen.
