A hint of upcoming FUN.

There is something wrong with this mountain:

There is a reason the "ground-cover" is interrupted. Ruh Roh:

After changing the contour of the mountain a couple track-plan tweaks ago I was impatient to get back to Operation so I just skipped the plaster-cloth and Sculptamold and instead covered the cardboard skeleton directly with fleece ground-cover.

A FUN inside project will be doing this slope properly. Stay tuned.

I had some FUN today. Big Brown stopped out front and dropped off a familiar looking box:

and yes, the Driver was wearing rubber gloves as was out Postman. I used bare hands opening the boxes and then washed hands thoroughly.

Anyways, inside the familiar box was this Beauty:

As I am from The Steel City I just had to put this MTH PS3 SW1500 on the roster......It seems I have a lot of relief power on hand for a switching pike.

IMO, Lew, you cannot go wrong with another beautiful switcher like that one. Arnold

PS: Here is my favorite switcher, the NY Central RS3, which is also an MTH Proto 3:

Although  I posted these photos on another thread,  these were the fun projects that I did this past weekend.  Placed some Life Like O telephone poles and strung them using EZ line.   I really like the look of these poles and the EZ line is a great product.  I also began weathering the MTH B&O work caboose and Weaver N&W boxcar.  I still have some more weathering work to do on these two cars. Also ran trains pretty much all day this past Sunday.  The bottom photo is a short logging train with transfer caboose punctuating the rear.   I think the transfer caboose works well for a logging train.  I rotate a dockside loco with a GE 44 tonner as the assigned power for the Mountain division.  Really enjoying my trains and hope all of you are too!  Be safe and be healthy!IMG_1583IMG_1586IMG_1597IMG_1600IMG_1594

Lew - thanks so much for the nostalgic walk down memory lane!!  1957 was the year  I received my first Lionel set, however, the set I received was from the 1956 catalogue.... 2065 Hudson with operating milk car, operating Pacemaker boxcar, Sunoco 3 dome tank car, operation log car, and porthole caboose  with 1033 transformer 027 outfit.   I think the store where my parent bought it ( I thought Santa at the time ) had a sale on 1956 items.

I have the 1956 catalogue and must get the 1957 as well.  I remember coming home from weekend shopping in Baltimore in early December 1957 with both the 56 and 57 catalogues.  My imagination ran wild ( still does ) as I browsed through those pages.  i

I still have my entire 1956 outfit all intact and runs just fine!

Patrick,

The mid to late 50's were a wonderful time for catalogues and catalogue art.  At the first snowfall I knew it was time to go and get the latest issue from Lionel.  It was like getting the first Christmas gift of the year.  Many of mine are, pound for pound, more scotch tape than paper!

I checked and I have a spare '57.  If you email me off list with a mailing address, its yours.

Had some FUN today. Remember that under the Joanne fleece ground cover on this mountainside:

       IMG_0514

Is this bare cardboard skeleton that resulted when a track-plan tweak required truncating the mountainside in order to move Oil Creek North a bit in order to make more room for the East End industrial area:

Well, it is a rainy cold gloomy day here so I got out the plaster cloth and went to work:

Next will be the application of Sculptamold, my favorite modeling medium.
