K-Line 1/58 scale

Lots of rolling stock looks good with this engine.  I have a long string of Lionel 6456 hoppers that look great.  Also Lionel's small boxcar (2454, 6014), stock car (6656) and flat cars fit nicely.  The early post war stamped steel cabooses fit well with the rest making a nice looking train.

If you are not worried about cars fitting into a certain time era a few others cars that would work are the traditional sized Lionel MPC era car carriers and the LTIenclosed car carriers as well as the LTI Center beam flat cars are all a bit under scaled and would fit scale wise if not era wise. 

One feature I like a lot is that both engines swivel, and as the point between the engines is well forward of the overall locomotive’s center line, there is minimal curve overhang at the front. A price has to be paid for sure, and it’s a significant cab overhang at the rear, but I much prefer that. The dealer also sold me a set of six smallish K-Line C & O black hoppers that look great behind this loco. A four wheel MTH caboose completes the illusion.

Essentially anything that is MTH RK (not RK Scale) or Lionel Traditional (and the K-line/WBB equivalents) will be in size sync with the 1:58 K-Line 2-6-6-6 (or K-Line - now WBB - 1:58 4-6-2). Think Postwar (not the really small stuff) dimensions. 

I have one of these. TMCC. Cruise. Runs very well. Except for the "high-pockets" firebox sides for rear swing on tight curves), it's a pretty fair model, and correctly proportioned. Great free-lancing fodder, also (I haven't done this).

I may modify those firebox sides one day (if ever...) as I have 072 curves so clearances aren't critical on this loco.

You can buy the deluxe Marx plastic hoppers. I have a string of 50 or so and they work well behind scale locos as well as undersized locos.
