K-Line 90 degree crossover

They are there to just interlock with the next section so as to not come apart.  If you are screwing your track down, you should not have a problem.  Super O was like this only their ends were rounded.

You can cut them off, the rails take regular O gauge track pins. You'll have to cut the super snap connectors off the mating track as well, if there are any.

Thank you very much for the info. Turns out that where I was planning to use this crossover won't work. I have an area where space is at a premium. I have a couple of lionel crossovers, they don't lend themselves to be easily trimmed; whereas the k-line does, so that's why I bought it. However, the trimming is only on the upper part of the vertical axis of the crossover (as shown in my lousy sketch).  In addition, I need to join 2 lionel 022 switches as also shown on the sketch. Guess what, the only way they join perfectly is with the lionel crossover. It turns out the legs on the k-line are shorter and you cannot join the 2 switches as I have shown.

Soooooooo, time for some fancy Dremel work.

It looks to me like 1/2" pieces of rail are needed (.58) to fill the gaps. Almost like the pin tips will touch. It should be 4.25" from the end of the switch center rail to the center of the cross. Just cut some rail pieces.

Yes, that was my concern that the rail pieces would be so short that the pins would touch. Plus, there is no way to stabilize the pieces when I connect the 2 switches together (a very tight fit). Plus a lot of burr clean up on all the pieces. But I may give it a try. Actually last night I Dremel'd the heck out of a Lionel crossover. It looks kind of ugly, but works. I still may try your suggestion.

Well, that's what I was thinking...the short pieces of rail would be supported by the pins. The K-Line would definitely look better. I hacked a 45 cross in O27 to run a big gear pre-war across. It looks like $#!+.

Hey Ken,

A FasTrack 90 with an 1 3/8 fits. You can make an end for pins by removing the blade connectors and cleaning the plastic out under the rail with a 7/64" drill bit. Then it joins like regular O tubular.

By the way, after I modified the Lionel crossover, I had some spare rail sections. Sooooooo, I made the teenie-weenie little rail sections to add on to the K-Line crossover. They seem to work ok as long as I drive the pins well into the switches to leave room for the adjoining pins. And you're right, it does look better.
