'Ya know I can't understand why I can never get any info on this wanted to buy or the tin plate site too any of my questions if I did something to offend people or did something wrong I would greatly appreciate if someone would tell me what it is or what I've done.  Replies would be greatly appreciated.  Cheers as always Jim

I tried also, the k-line legacy site has all cataloged items and almost all non cataloged items ever made. The search feature shows nothing for girl on the moor.  Is it possible that this is an overpaint by someone or a custom shop that ran off a small number of these ?   Do you have a picture or a car number to work with ?

Interested in doing a bit of kit bashing, the Miller Girl on the Moon decals/stickers are available plus there are several K-Line reefers available via Ebay. Add some spray paint and you got yourself a great looking reefer. I have gone this direction in kitbashing several boxcars and cabooses to create a Mad "Spy vs Spy" theme.

Fall TCA York might just have one, good hunting.

Here are a couple of pictures of the K-Line "Girl on the Moon" reefer.  I picked this up a few years back at York at the Eastern Depot booth.  They were a large K-Line dealer.  They had this car plus a couple of others that I picked up at the time.  The cars were all from the last K-Line catalog. Suspect that these cars were the prototypes / catalog art because I have never seen the cars for sale anywhere afterwards.  Since the Eastern Depot was a large K-Line dealer - they may have gotten these cars from K-Line, when K-Line was starting to implode. The car also came with a box.

NOTE - The car is NOT for Sale !!

The K-Line "Girl on the Moon" reefer was definitely produced.  I bought mine (also not for sale) at a hobby shop shortly after they were released, and have seen them once or twice at York.

I’ve posted items I’m looking for on this forum and don’t get too many replies.  For the most part people are looking for products that in most cases are very rare.  I’ve also posted questions on other forums as well and get a lot of views but not answers either.

So, you are not alone.

To WaynePa - The K-Line Woodside reefers were scale cars.  The K-Line 742-xxxx series of reefers were some of the nicest cars K-Line produced.  Very well detailed and came with a lot of extras, plastic ice , depending on the car - either boxes you assembled or plastic fruit or meat for hanging on the racks inside the car.  The best extra (IMO) was a extra bolster so you could convert the cars to Kadees without destroying the bolster with the knuckle attached to it.  I've collected about 30 of these cars.

Are you guys sure that that isn't a "Witch on the Moon"?   (Sure looks like a witch to me.)

This is a very old (over 100 years) graphic and here's a relatively old (2005) NYT story about it: https://www.nytimes.com/2005/0...irl-in-the-moon.html

I dunno - maybe wide-brimmed witch hats were popular way back when.

Anyway it's a seriously nice reefer but I have no intention of hunting for it!

Won't let me read without a subscription, perhaps you could post a synopsis of the article ?

Trainnut,

For something like this, just check the Bay twice a day for 2 or 3 months.  It will show up.

One sold last December 21st on the Bay, the K-Line version, for $99.

When it shows up, you have to be willing to put your bid in, big, right away.  It won't go for cheap or a "fair" price.  Somebody else out there wants one really bad!

By the way, does anybody have the Lionel version?  If so, it would be great to see a picture.
