K-line recall on passenger cars?

Initially, K-Line offered to do the correction at Chapel Hill, I'm not sure who paid the postage.  This was about a 3 minute fix per truck.  Follow the easy instructions.  Time to fix this will greatly increase if you disregard #2 and do not put your finger over the spring.  Hunting for it takes time.   Catalog numbers were not changed as there were no second runs of a set.  John in Lansing, ILL

Or are you talking about the zinc pest issue??? I bought a set of HW cars new and soon 50% of the tricks were junk....K-line sent me new trucks and I replaced.

 Toy train recall (1991 to 1995 models) - this is the 1996 recall on the older K-Line Heavyweights.

 If the train derails, the coupler coil spring could overheat creating a potential fire hazard.

 K-Line will send a bag of fiber washers, but no instructions on how to install them.

 The fix on the K-Line heavyweights was a small fiber or plastic washer placed on the coupler post.  It prevents the uncoupler from shorting out on the center rail.

 The early K-Line heavyweights, late eighties early nineties, had very light wiring.  I had the insulation melt on one just sitting in a siding by itself with the power on.

 CPSC and MDK Inc. are not aware of any injuries involving these model trains. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury.

 The trains involved in this recall are The Heavyweight line of O scale passenger cars, sold under the brand name K-LINE Electric Trains, which were produced from 1991 through 1995. These cars are 1:48 scale models of railroad passenger cars from the early 1900s and are designed to operate on a three-rail, O gauge track.

 The following types of cars are part of this train product line: coach, pullman, baggage, railway post office, diner, and observation car. All cars are individually boxed and include an end label listing the model name and number.

A few years back(maybe 7 years) I had to replace some K-Line wheelsets on a 2703 Interurban passenger car. The wheels just came out of the sides or jumped up and came out the bottom of the truck assemblies and caused a short.

No body would honor the recall, but nice to know what you have and an easy fix for them!

I got the circus passenger cars for free, I didn't know these were recalled, haven't had any derailments with them yet. I remember talking to the guy about the recall and have taken care of Parts I need to do it
