I just wanted to post my positive experience with Lionel service.

 

I had sent in my Legacy base and Cab 2 to be upgraded to v1.3. I had never done it as things worked fine, plus I guess I didnt pay atttention enough to realize it had to be sent in. Mine was an original issue Base and Cab 2 that I've had since early on.

 

Right before I sent it in, the direction button stopped working, but I attributed it more to the programming getting messed up when I tried to reprogram than a failure, so I didnt mention it in my service request.

 

Imagine my surprise today upon opening the box and reading the tech report. They tested and found the direction button did not work, and they replaced the Cab 2 with a new one! Pretty good for a three year old set long out of warranty!

I sent in my base for a charging issue (Mike asked for the two CAB2 as well) and I got them back within two weeks at no charge.  Lionel service has been exceptional which is why I continue to purchase their products.  The S-3 is the lastest of their excellent models I have purchased. It is nice to be able to purchase products from MTH, Lionel, SMR and 3rd Rail and not be concerned regarding their command systems and followup service. Service on all 5 (including ERR) has be everything I could expect.  I am very glad I am not one of those on this forum that has had issues with repairs.
