I just recently serviced my coal tipple.  To get to that micro switch will require a full disassemble.

1. Remove the walkways. There is a plug at each corner of the walkway.  Pull them out to get to the screws to remove the walkway.

2. Remove the two main side gear wheels. Note the screw lengths.  Some screws are longer than others and need to go back in the same spot.

3. There are 2 spring loaded shafts on the bottom.  I believe pressing down on the car clamps should lock the clamps down and release the spring arms from underneath.

4. The drum should be able to be removed at this point.

5. To get the track out, you will need to un-solder the track wires and remove the track screws.  Note the location of the track wires.

6. With the wires freed, you should be able to get the track section apart and get to the micro switches.

I may have missed something but the above instructions are pretty close.  I also found this site was helpful in seeing how it all comes apart. https://slsprr.net/features/tipple.htm

Joe- I went threw instructions and ran into a few issues. I de-solder the green-red and blue wires from each end ( the green is for track power-one side outer rail other middle) The blue wire cam out fine but the red goes under the the plastic piece that the track screws down to. Will I have to go into the bottom to get to it? Also the micro switches I have are no were near the ones that go in. Would you a part number for these or place I can order

Thanks

I've ordered the micro switches to replace the bad one ( ordered 6 total .50 each) I the mean time, I've been trying to figure out the wiring to replace the switch. As mentioned earlier I de-soldered the red-green and blue wires from the end caps ( under the end gears) I had issues trying to remove the track were switches are located. The green and blue wires were free, but the red wire would not loosen up. The red wire did come free off the switches after cutting.  With a meter I found out that the red wire connected to the two switches ( nothing to do with the red wires I de-soldered) To me it seems like the the switches are in series and when the switches are depressed, the 2 blue wires are connected ( 0 ohms) Where the ends red wires connect ( ones I de-soldered) I'm not sure since they are under the plastic plate that the track screws down too. I know there is infinite resistance between them.  Without a wiring diagram its hard to figure out.  Any help would be appreciated. Also- with the micro switches are they held in by the outer track bottom lip? ( have to excuse my writing- never was good at it)
