For what it's worth, I'd leave it like it is.  Replace the decals and that's it.   From the photo, it doesn't look that bad!  More importantly, how does it run?  Gilbert diesels can be a problem if the axle bushings are worn.  Otherwise, it looks like you got a good buy.  If there are a few scratches that bother you, consider mixing up some touch up paint, but even then...

Looks pretty good to me.  At least aesthetically. Granted photo's can fool, but on the other hand there's a lot to be said for originality and authenticity.  In any case be sure to first get it running well.  The rest will fall into place after that.  In case they help, here are a few things to view.  Let us know how it goes.
