LC + up grade kits

I am pretty certain than in most cases the upgrade kit would have to include the motor(s) too, since they have the RPM counter on them for closed-loop control of speed, etc. and older locos do not.  It would make the kit hardly and more involved to install, and most costly .   For that reason I think an "upgrade kit" would probably cost about what an entire LC+ loco would cost - or close enough Lionel will suspect, with good reason, there will be few who would buy the kit rather than just opt for a complete new loco.

I would certainly be interested in an upgrade kit, but I tend to agree with Lee on this one.  I don't see the costs working out very well.  

On the other hand, something I brought up in another thread  was a LC+ board for tmcc engines that would replace the R2LC.  I think that would be neat, at the least.  Not sure how many people have the 'command ready' locomotives running conventional, but there has to be a lot of them out there.  No cruse, but everything else would work fine.  

I would love to switch a couple MTH engines over to Lionchief+ Both are diesels.

Why bother when they have the ERR TMCC upgrades that cost less then a LC+ upgrade would?

I'd prefer an upgrade kit to upgrade Lionchief engines to Lionchief Plus or to conventional, or even TMCC

No interest here, I would not have a use for LC+ upgrade kits. This would be unlikely, but if I ever do find something I must have that is not command control, I would upgrade it to PS2/3 or ERR/TMCC and not LC or LC+. 

I might be missing something, but all the "command ready" locos I know of are AC Pullmor powered engines. LC+ engines have DC can motors, so I don't think there would be any compatibility, that is, LC+ boards wouldn't work with AC Pullmor engines.

As far as I understand it, all the electronics that handle the AC, ( and I think some are can motors as well), so dc as well, that power the motor are already in the engines.  you only need a radio board that tells them what to do with themselves.  in this case replacing the R2LC that picks up the 455KHz track signal with a 2.4GHz one that picks up a LC remote.  (Edit:  talking about command ready, (or any TMCC loco here))

I think there is another elephant in the room as well.   For folks that run TMCC/Legacy/DCS I can't see there being a big demand for such a thing, and that topic has been beaten to death in other threads, however for folks that are currently running conventional there seems to be a nice following of people that might be interested in being able to get LC+ functionality out of some of what they already own.  

The LC+ is  one integrated board.  So I don't think you can use it to drive the original boards.  Even if you could you start running out of room in the engine.  G

I would love to put a LC+ board in my WBB locos and use the handheld remote.
