HI FOLKS, I DID MY BEST ON THESE LCCA GENERALS. WE EVEN PLACED THE ORDER 3 MONTHS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. GO TO THE LCCA WEB PAGE FOR MORE INFO. ON DELIVERY.

 NOW THE GOOD NEWS.

AS OF TODAY OUR FRIENDS AT LIONEL HAVE NOW UP GRADED THE SOUND SYSTEM TO RAIL SOUNDS INSTEAD OF TRAIN SOUNDS. THE ORIGINAL SOUNDS WERE THAT OF AN 0-8-0. THE NEW UP GRADED SOUNDS ARE FROM A GENERAL LOCOMOTIVE. WE THE LCCA WILL HAVE THE VERY FIRST NEW GENERAL RAILSOUNDS SYSTEM. WE DID HAVE TO GIVE UP BRAKE SOUNDS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT UP TO PARR WITH THE NEW SYSTEM. NOW IT WILL HAVE CAB CHATTER BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT SAYS.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE 2 NEW TRUCKS MANUFACTURED AND A SPECIAL DRAW BAR SO THERE IS NO INTERUPTION OF SOUND WHEN GOING THROUGH SWITCHES. I PROMISED TO DO MY BEST. I'M SORRY ITS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED BUT ITS WORTH THE WAIT. OH WE ARE ALSO PRINTING NEW BOXES SHOWING THE UPGRADES!

MANY MANY THANKS

LOUIE

The thought of cab chatter of any sort in those locomotives certainly evokes a chuckle.

As someone suggested earlier, about the only thing that would even reasonably make sense would be the pursued and the pursuers yelling back and forth at each other (which never happened, of course).

Fuller:  "Give it up, you Yankee dogs!"

Andrews:  "Up yours, Johnny Reb!"

Oh, yeah, that'll work!

I am one of those rascals that would want to see a cannonball hole or two in the tender along with the chatter being yelled out the winder... window..

If I hear any hint of radio or modern technology ahead of the mid to late 1800's someone is a-fixing to have their own day at the Dunkard Church.

I do really hope for the best and look forward to possibly finally buying a 4-4-0 of that time period.

As far as the railroading in those days, I recall several People on both sides during that little family spat who did a fantastic job with the trains.

I also hope that the cab chatter is period-appropriate dialogue between the engineer and fireman and not a representation of radio communication between the engine and some tower or dispatcher (for the obvious historical reasons).

The upgrades alone make this release even more collectible.

I wonder where they are getting the sound for the engines?  Did they record the B&O Museum's "William Mason"?  I know that O. Winston Link recorded audio of the "General" the last time she was under steam in the 60's (I have a 45 of it, but no way to play it any more) - wouldn't it be awesome if they put an actual recording of the "General" in the model?!

Well, if I for example should "Poach" a diagloge from the net using the audio on the computer to save it, I should be able to then upload it to the new engine correct?

Is there a stock number for the New General? I would like to put in a order to the Hobby Shop to be sure to get it.

To the Person unable to play records, try any number of "Antique" shops or "Flea Markets and look for a record player. In addition, Walmart has a deck that plays records, Cassette, CD etc in the electronics/TV section. You may be able to find it there.

Newegg dot com might have a record player that will capture your sounds to the computer so that you will not have to wear out the platter.

Good luck!

Lionel released a green and black W&A "General" a couple of years ago with TrainSounds (this was the first one with sounds), and I believe all versions since have had TrainSounds (I know the Lone Ranger one does).  This LCCA release will be the first with RailSounds, and I suspect you are right about the potential high prices on the secondary market, as the LCCA release will have added appeal to Civil War buffs.
