To release a beautiful locomotive which, as I see it, represents a famous railroad name should come under a better term of "legacy", "heritage", or "in honor of".  Like Lou stated, we are PLAYING with TOY TRAINS for gosh sakes.

This Texas Special locomotive set is a real eye catcher, something I want when I have guest's over to see and run on my layout.  These are the trains they are going to remember.

"Fanstasy" seems to have replaced term "freelance" in some model railroad circles when refering to something painted up for something that never existed.  I actually prefer to use "freelance," but it seems people don't know what I'm talking about when I use the term.

And face it, neither MKT or Frisco switchers were painted like this or were branded for the Texas Special.  Fantasy or Freelance, does it really make a difference?

But, I'll still agree the Texas Special switchers from the "Mind of Lou" do look nice.

we do intend to do proto- typical paint scheme in the future

ps i said if this was going to be a 100% scale down to the rivet model I would have made it a point to put oem trucks on it. we have a TOY TRAIN here.

Yes, there are LOTS of examples of the railroads interchanging trucks to save money. Not only on used engines, but sometimes, for example, they would order a new engine from EMD without trucks, and put ALCo trucks on it if they had some spares, and vice-versa. Took some modifications, for sure, but apparently worth it. Engine trucks and motors are complex and expensive items.

So, a DC motor, apparently? That's a first in one of these switchers, isn't it? Means you can add ERR Cruise Control if desired, too.

yep!
