OK GUY'S. The texas special switcher pair order form will be in the June LION ROARS. THE ORDERING PERIOD WILL BE SHORT. THE pair will sell for $499.95. Both units will have die cast frames among a ton of detail goodies. They are killer. The clubs profit margins will be minimal as we are including FREE OF CHARGE TO THOSE WHO PLACE A DEPOSIT AND ORDER EARLY a lighted mint car with a load never produced by LIONEL in texas special markings. THIS car is a killer and will NOT be available for seperate sale! mint car collectors are going to go bonkers.

NEXT THERE WILL BE A 3 CAR PAK AVAILABLE CONTAINING A special baywindow caboose with flashig red light, scale flat with real wooden deck and die cast helicopter (full scale) and a texas special tank car with LIONEL locomotive oil. the contract is signed but these cars will not be available until after the switcher set is released. Those who place orders for the locomotives will get top priority.

picturs will follow in about two weeks. these items are limited to one per member. if you know any texas special fans who are not club members than get them to sign up and LCCA will waive the the 10.00 registration fee. any questions? contact me caponilj@comcast.net    the locos will not be Legacy equipped as LIONEL would not give us permission. they want to keep legacy for their own top of the line locomotves but this i can tell you. the texas tommy set will have just about everything else!!

thanks

hi Mark, There are many reasons why we can't provive items with and without. it is much more complicated than you think. first, in order to do this the required order to do both with and without would be a minimum of 1500 pc's. 750 of each version. we have close to 8000 members but we don't receive the orders you might think we get. Also, Lionel has the final say. i'm sorry. there will be no tmcc but this loco will have new updated railsounds, new flywheel drive motor, twin smoke units, bells, horns, die cast metal frame and exceptional detailing normally only seen on brass models. An all new tooled calf never made before. OH the club owns the frame tool so no other clubs can produce these loco's unless they can afford to purchase their own new tooling. we are also giving you a free mint car!

if all this doesn't matter and TMCC is more imporant i'm afraid I can't help

best wishes

Guess the folks who would want just the mint car are out of luck.

In the TM Book: Lionel a Collectors Guide and History Vol IV 1970-1980 they coined the phrase basic "Basic Collector Milking" to describe Lionel's policy of often including a particular series of car in a set or other expensive item, to pretty much force the collector into spending alot of money just to get the one desireable item.  Seems like the LCCA must have found out about this clever marketing tactic.

Ed, most likely the car will show up either on the bay or in the LCCA advertisment booklet.  I got my Alamo bullion car this way.

Now youand I both know somebody will sell that mint car broken up from the locomotives. i had that car thrown in there as an added bonus. when we originaly displayed the locomotive pair there was no mint car. there is also a three car set coming out in addition to the mint. so if you have last years convention car, the mint car and the 3 additional cars that are going to be released you certainly have a great looking set. Are you a member of the LCCA ed H?

THANKS

Lou, if this has Railsounds, do you know if someone were to add TMCC  like an Electric RR Cruise Commander, would the Railsounds board(s) respond to TMCC commands?

The reason I asked is because Lou says this engine will have "new updated Railsounds"

This could mean the new ERR Railsounds Commander or it could be a new Railsounds designed specifically for Conventional engines. I am guessing the former but was hoping I could find out for sure before ordering this set. Maybe Jon Z could help out?

It will be very interesting to see what you find out.  As is often the case in matters like this, half the battle will be finding the "right person" who can give you THE 100% DEFINITIVE ANSWER.

Sounds like you have some good starting points with folks named in the thread thus far.  Keep at it... and let us know what you find.  Personally speaking, if it's not at least upgradable to TMCC in some way, shape or form, than it's a deal-breaker for me.  I understand that not every offering can be everything to everyone; but to offer something with such fabulous details and then leave out either Legacy or TMCC electronics -- or at least a well-defined path to get there -- means part of your potential market may think twice before grabbing what otherwise looks to be a very fine offering.

Just my 2 cents...

David

dave, i'm sorry if this doesn't have what you want. Lionel is becoming more and mor particular when it comes to electronics theat are not directly offered by them in their catalogs.

next, how many engines now have obsolete circuit boards you can no longer order.if more members would participate in making these purchases i could be 2 versions if LIONEL would allow us. we have 8 thousand menbers and if we can get a few more to buy our products making two versions would not be out of the question.

thanks

louie

Lou, not to divert your thread too far off track but adding TMCC is not a problem with any engine with DC can motors, nor is aftermarket Railsounds. I suspect the Railsounds in this engine board could be connected to the TMCC boards so they respond to Command Control as well as DC transformer offsets in conventional. If this is true it would save having to buy another Railsounds board. I am all for having options. Keep up the good work.
