I am not that knowledgeable about computers. I can turn them on, get where I'm going and do what I have to.

I bought RR-Track V.4 and updated it to V.5.

Now I am to the point of drawing up my layout and can't really figure this out!
I have a room 15'-9" x 8'-6" with a small extension on the bottom right side which is 2' wide x 6'-6" long. I can get the large portion laid out but not the extension piece.

Then there is adding the track and the details.

I have been playing around with this for a few days and still can't get it.

Is it really that easy for a guy like me or do you have to be a computer geek to figure this program out?

I had a similar issue, as my actual trainroom is in an "L" shape. When selecting the layout size, I specified a rectangular size large enough to incorporate the full "L" shape of my room. Then as Patrick & Fec fan have said, I slected the "filled rectangle" from the "Objects" drop down tab, and sized it to fill in the area of the "layout" diagram which was not actual available room space.

It's easier to specify the room size, and build your layout in RR-track based on the room size. That way, rather than trying to start with just the layout dimension itself, this gives you some perspective as to how the layout is going to actually fit the room itself.

yard... I messed with RR for about a month, and had a really frustrating experience. I sent an S.O.S. and got a helping hand from a fellow O-gauger. It's a gosh-awful program program/software for a beginner. If you design as a hobby, and use it alot, maybe you can get the hang of the software, other-wise forget about it...grab a pencil and graph paper.
If you follow the step by step tutorials and read the "How To" section as your working with it, its really ot that hard to use. I was worried I wouldn't be able to figure it out but it's actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

You do have to use it regularly though or you forget how to do some of things. No problem though, just back to the Tutorials Wink
